Razor's Edge
Terry Gonda, Kirsti Reeve c. 1997

The dancer moves across the floor.
Her spotlight fades, but music calls for more.
Lips closed tight round thorny roses.
She strikes her fetal poses.

Dancing on the razor's edge,
In still darkness twirl pirouettes.
Before the pain can decrease,
Find that sweet release.

Stretch to the left turn to the right.
Your memories dance with you tonight.
Spinning round and round and round in helpless haze,
While symphonies of shadows play.

Dancing on the razor's edge,
In still darkness twirl pirouettes.
Before the pain can decrease,
Find that sweet release.

See him feel him feel you.
Feed the memory, see it through.
Take so much in you force it out,
Until you scream that silent shout.

Scarred in battles meant to save her
Arms lift high in wordless prayer--
"Bring this dance now to an end
Before the music plays again".

[ If you're a survivor of sexual abuse, Or find yourself in a similar dance--you're not alone.
There are real ways to end the dance and still live life fully. Our friend Inanna has a page we'd like to share. Click here to go there.]
